Pubblicazioni, programmi di ricerca, mostre, film, podcast e altre iniziative: sono 64 i progetti proposti da singoli individui che vengono sovvenzionati dalla Graham Foundation nel 2023, per un totale di 559.100 dollari. Scelti tra le 500 proposte che hanno partecipato al bando da tutto il mondo, questi progetti contengono idee innovative e interdisciplinari, e rivelano una prospettiva critica sull'architettura e sul design. Sono stati presentati da 92 persone con profili diversi, come architetti, designer, artisti, curatori e scrittori. A luglio verranno invece annunciati i progetti che hanno ottenuto una sovvenzione tra quelli proposti da organizzazioni.
Tra i progetti di singole persone che quest'anno beneficiano del finanziamento assegnato dalla Graham Foundation, figurano diverse installazioni presentate alla Biennale di Architettura di Venezia, curata da Leslie Lokko e visitabile fino al 26 novembre ai Giardini e all'Arsenale: The Uhuru Catalogues di Thandi Loewenson; Textural threshold hair salon: Dreadlock di Felecia Davis; Black City Astrolabe di J. Yolande Daniels; Index of Edges di Huda Tayob. All'interno dei padiglioni nazionali: La Casa Tappeto di Giovanni Bellotti, Alessandra Covini, e Adelita Husni-Bey, nel padiglione Italia curato da Fosbury Architecture; Labor (Un)settlement and Migration Futures di N H D M: Nahyun Hwang and David Moon nel padiglione della Korea, curato da Soik Jung e Kyong Park.
Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts
La Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts è un ente non profit con sede a Chicago, istituito nel 1956 grazie a un lascito dell'architetto Ernest R. Graham, scomparso nel 1936. La fondazione promuove lo sviluppo e lo scambio di idee sull'architettura e il suo ruolo nelle arti, nella cultura e nella società. In 67 anni di attività, la Graham Foundation ha assegnato più di 43 milioni di dollari a sostegno di oltre 5.000 progetti di singole persone e organizzazioni in tutto il mondo.
