DOMAINE PUBLIC ARCHITECTS

Karim Fakhry

Karim Fakhry holds a Master’s degree of Architecture from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University. He is the international principal at Domaine Public Architects, founded in 2011. The practice, driven by an analytical approach rather than a specific architectural style, creates spaces derived from the specificity of context, historical precedent, and an understanding of functional needs. A diverse portfolio of work includes projects in the Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Mexico and the Middle East. His architectural projects have been published and exhibited throughout the world, including the World Architecture Festival in Singapore. He is also the Programs Director of the Domaine Public Foundation, a non-profit organization that seeks to build a better future for the city of Beirut through finding effective solutions to existing urban problems. Its aim is to improve public space within the city, and establish public programs that enhance the lives of residents, both permanent and transient. Fakhry sits on the advisory board of the Smallville hotel, the leading design hotel in Lebanon. He is also a professor of architecture at the Lebanese American University.
