Usually, the work of Light Art are event-specific and, thus, ephemeral. Once they are dismantled, the only traces remaining are dispersed images of the Internet or on some magazines. This volume, conceived by Gisella Gellini and Francesco Murano, gathers and comments on the most significant works of national and international artists shown in Italy in 2010. It is dedicated to scholars, designers, students and to all the people that love light in its artistic manifestations.

Gisella Gellini
Gisella Gellini, architetto, si è laureata a Firenze con tesi di laurea "Restaurazione e organizzazione museografica di Palazzo Schifanoia di Ferrara" (XIV sec.). In seguito ha seguito corsi di ricerca e specializzazione di estetica sperimentale con riferimento a spazio-tempo-luce. Si è poi trasferita a San Paolo del Brasile, dove ha progettato importanti edifici, fra cui la facoltà di Arte e Musica Santa Marcellina e allestimenti storici in città brasiliane. nel con-tempo ha esercitato anche attività di consulenza per il Centro di Studi e Ricerche dello Sta-to di San Paolo. Ricercatrice della cultura della luce con particolare riferimento alla Light Art, ottiene la collaborazione e la consulenza del collezionista Giuseppe Panza di Biumo. Nel 2009 è curatrice invitata per l'esposizione "Dan Flavin nella Collezione Panza"al Museo Berardo -Lisbona. durante Euroluce a Milano, dell'installazione di Nicola Evangelisti "Light Blade" a Villa Reale. Nel 2010 per Luminale è curatrice invitata della mostra "Luces. Light art from Italy", collettiva di artisti italiani della luce al Museo ArcheologiaSan Paolo del Bra-sile al museo Tomie-Ohtake per l'evento "Momento Italia-Brasile 2011-2012". Insegna alla Scuola di Design del Politecnico di Milano, oltre a partecipare a corsi, seminari e workshop come esperta di Light Art anche all'Acccademia di Belle Arti di Brera di Milano. Scrive per riviste del settore e sta pubblicando il quarto volume della collana "Light art in Italy".

Francesco Murano
Francesco Murano Architect, he obtained a Master's degree at the Domus Academy and a PhD in Industrial Design at the Polytechnic of Milan. He carries out his activity within the fields of environmental and interior lighting. his productions vary from lighting installations, to the lighting of stands, from lamp design to monumental and architectural lighting, and the research of new materials produced by Italian and European companies. All the major Italian magazines of interior design have been concerned with his work, which has also been published in many foreign magazines pertaining to the field of product design and light design. He has been a member of the research staff of the Domus Academy and the Taipei Design Centre, and coordinator of the Master in Light Design at the Istituto Europeo di Design of Milan. He is research professor at the Polytechnic of Milan, Department of Design.
