The World Architecture Festival 2022 winds up today in Lisbon. The largest international event dedicated to architecture, the WAF saw the winning projects in the various award categories announced at the FIL Exhibition Centre. On the first day of the three-day event (Wednesday, November 30), the first group of 20 winners were unveiled. On the second (Thursday, December 1), the remaining 21 winners of the 41 award categories were announced, including the winners from the INSIDE World Festival, the parallel event dedicated to interior design. In all, 39 honorable mentions were awarded this year by the jury.
The third and final phase of the competition is taking place today, the third and final day of the festival (Friday, December 2), when the overall winners will be announced in the categories World Building of the Year, Future Project of the Year, Interior of the Year, and Landscape of the Year. The winning projects will be revealed during the grand gala dinner, taking place at the Convento Do Beato.
The three-day WAF isn’t just about the conclusion of the prestigious international award, however. It’s an important networking opportunity for architects and designers from around the world, comprising a busy program of talks, conferences, and panel discussions. This year’s event, themed “Together,” centers on the theme of the community use of architecture and public spaces.
