Bioarchitecture is a field that is gaining increasing attention in contemporary architecture. In this context, the digital event "The Role of Bio-Based Materials in the Building Regeneration Processes: Visions, Practices and Innovations" represents a unique opportunity to explore the role of natural materials in optimizing building performance, enhancing thermal comfort, and improving air quality. Organized in collaboration with Diasen, a leading company in the production of bio-based plasters and cork- and lime-based paints, this event promises to be a landmark for all professionals in the industry, including architects, engineers, and designers.
Bioarchitecture is based on sustainability principles and respect for the environment, focusing on the use of natural materials that not only reduce environmental impact but also improve the quality of life for building occupants. Thanks to innovations brought by companies like Diasen, the construction industry is increasingly embracing the use of bio-based materials such as cork, lime, and natural plasters, which not only meet aesthetic and functional needs but also contribute to greater environmental well-being.
During the webinar, industry experts and bioarchitecture professionals will discuss innovations and best practices related to the use of natural materials in building regeneration processes. The sessions will focus in particular on:
Optimizing building energy performance through the use of materials that improve thermal insulation and energy efficiency.
Enhancing thermal comfort, with materials such as cork and lime that help maintain more stable temperatures within living spaces.
Air quality: the use of natural materials promotes healthier environments due to their ability to regulate humidity and prevent the formation of mold and bacteria.
Together with Diasen, the event will feature architect Eliza Yokina from the Romanian studio Cumulus, Jennifer Beningfield, Partner at the London-based Openstudio Architects. Additionally, Ecological Building Systems, a company whose philosophy focuses on the use of natural materials. The moderator will be the architect James McAdam, Founding Partner of the eponymous firm, McAdam Architects.
The webinar will be held in English language on Thursday 6th February at 3:30 pm (CET) and will be streamed live on zoom.
The webinar is under approval for the release of 2 LUs for AIA and RIBA.
The webinar will also provide a platform to explore future visions for sustainable architecture. What will be the next challenges to face? How will the use of natural materials evolve in the context of growing urbanization and climate change? The speakers’ presentations will focus on how bioarchitecture can become a true strategy for urban regeneration, promoting sustainability across all sectors.
"The Role of Bio-Based Materials in the Building Regeneration Processes: Visions, Practices and Innovations" will be an opportunity to explore the future of sustainable architecture. Thanks to the collaboration with Diasen and the involvement of internationally renowned studios, participants will have the chance to learn firsthand about the natural materials that are transforming the construction industry and contributing to more sustainable, energy-efficient, and healthier buildings.
Thus, the event represents a valuable opportunity to discover innovative and concrete solutions to address the environmental and climate challenges of the future.
