Six winners and 11 honorable mentions: these are the results of THE PLAN Real Estate Award 2024, the fourth edition of the award dedicated to Real Estate operations, which saw the participation of more than 60 projects from all over the world. The winners, selected from a shortlist of 27 finalists, were announced during the closign event on Wednesday, February 5, in Milan's Fonderia Napoleonica Eugenia spaces.
The winning projects were selected by an outstanding jury composed of Barbara Cominelli, Chair of ULI (Urban Land Institute Italia); Luca Giannelli, CEO of United Consulting; Massimiliano Pulice, Chair of the Advisory Board of RICS Italia (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors); and Silvia Ricci, Vice President of ANCE, the Italian Association of construction entrepreneurs.
Overall Winner was the Angst Bordighera 1887 - The Riviera Essentia project, developed by Bizzi & Partners and designed by Tectoo. This year the jury also awarded the Urban Regeneration Special Prize to the Sustainable City Vlasne Misto for 47000 residents. From the next edition, urban regeneration will be the fourth category of the contest, joining the three categories already present: ESG - Environmental Social Governance, Innovation and Design, and Investment and Asset Management.
The event was organized in partnership with Buromilan, an international engineering firm, Atlas Concorde, a brand of excellence in the ceramic surfaces sector, and Valtellina, a leading company in the field of telecommunications network infrastructure installation and maintenance services. Speaking for the three companies were Maurizio Milan, President, Partner and Co-Founder of Buromilan, Maurizio Mazzotti, CEO of Atlas Concorde, and Giovanni Contemi, Sales and Marketing Director of Valtellina, respectively.
The awards ceremony, which took place in front of a profiled audience of more than 200 real estate operators, investors and designers, was preceded by a panel discussion entitled From Project to Value: Evolutionary Trajectories in the Relationship between Architecture, Real Estate and Urban Sustainability. Moderated by Nicola Leonardi, Managing Editor and Co-Founder of THE PLAN, the meeting was attended by Barbara Cominelli, Massimiliano Pulice, and Claudio Ricci from ANCE Giovani.

The Jury recognized in the “Angst Bordighera 1887 – The Riviera Essentia” project a highly significant esthetic quality and, above all, a symbolic value as a driver of revitalization for the entire Bordighera area. The restoration project seeks to go beyond being merely a recovery intervention by paying tribute to the illustrious past of the building – a charming 19th-century hotel – while believing in the context of its implementation, investing in the area's future, and proposing a new concept of luxury interpreted through the lens of sustainability.
Urban Regeneration Special Prize: Sustainable City Vlasne Misto for 47000 residents
The Vlasne Misto masterplanning project aims to distance itself from the Soviet urban planning legacy, which is no longer in line with the needs and evolution of today's cities, where the principles of sustainable development find sedimentation at all levels of urban, social, economic and infrastructural management. The choice to award a Ukrainian project, in addition to representing a symbolic message of human closeness, is intended above all to emphasize the importance of urban regeneration as a tool applicable at every latitude to rethink and improve places of living, working and social life, in a sustainable and human-scale key.
