The shortlisted projects in THE PLAN Award 2024, the tenth edition, have been announced. As in past years, participation in this international award for excellence in architecture, interior design, and planning was excellent, with the more than 600 shortlisted projects selected from over 1,200 entries from around the world.
This varied collection of projects will now move onto the next stage of the award when the finalists will be chosen, which will then be announced in September. The awards ceremony for the winning projects and special mentions will take place in November. The entries are divided into 20 different categories, for each of which two winners will be selected: one in the Completed section and one in the Future section, for projects yet to be constructed.
In the ten editions of the award, many projects have gone on to have enormous success outside the competition. For newly established studios in particular, THE PLAN Award is an extraordinary opportunity to compete with other architectural firms from all over the world. The winning projects and special mentions will be featured on THE PLAN’s online platforms and published in the special THE PLAN Award book.
The international jury of THE PLAN Award is made up of professionals and academics from the world of architecture and design: Amale Andraos, Co-Founder and Principal at WORKac, Professor and Dean Emeritus at Columbia GSAPP; Jennifer Beningfield, Founding Principal Openstudio Architects; Alvin Huang, Founder and Principal of Synthesis Design + Architecture, Associate Professor at University of Southern California; Sebastián Irarrázaval, Principal at Sebastián Irarrázaval Arquitectos; Hana Kassem, Principal at KPF; Xiangning Li, Dean and Full Professor at Tongji University’s College of Architecture and Urban Planning; Rahul Mehrotra, Founder of RMA Architects, Professor at Harvard Graduate School of Design; Taraneh Meshkani, Assistant Professor of Architecture and Urban Planning at Kent State University, Senior Editor of The Plan Journal; Valerie Mulvin, Founding Partner of McCullough Mulvin Architects; Raymund Ryan, Curator of the Heinz Architectural Center at the Carnegie Museum of Art; Yehuda Safran, Adjunct Professor at the Pratt Institute School of Architecture; Xiaochun Zhang, Professor at the College of Architecture and Urban Planning of Tongji University.
It won’t only be the jury who decide the winners. Anyone can vote for what they think is the best project in the Community Wish List Special Prize, which will also award projects in both the Completed and Future sections. It’s possible to vote for more than one project, but only one vote per day will be accepted. To vote, visit THE PLAN Award 2024 shortlisted projects section of the website.
