RETAIL
HILLS SHOPPING MALL
Wall Corporation/Selim Senin

A partially covered stepped shopping mall overlooking the city, Hills Shopping Mall avoids interrupting pedestrian flows and the flow of the city itself. Instead, it interacts with the roads that lead to it, offering all the stores visibility and pedestrian access. An artificial hill in the heart of Rwanda’s capital.

SPECIAL PROJECTS
TREE HOUSE, DAWSON LAKE
Peter Pichler Architecture

The search for a nexus between tourism, humans, and the environment takes physical form in these satellite structures, which stand within the forest like lanterns in the night. The formal composition of the individual units was inspired by the surrounding trees, which has created the impression of the units silently merging into their forest setting. This is a sustainable, and unconventional, example of hospitality structure that elevates tourism to a more contemplative dimension.

SPORT & LEISURE
RCF ARENA REGGIO EMILIA
Iotti + Pavarani Architetti, Tassoni & Partners, Lauro Sacchetti Associati

An unused section of Reggio Emilia’s airport has been replanned for the construction of a stadium for outdoor events. A major economic opportunity for the province, the project has produced a local architectural landmark that enhances the landscape through sustainable, quality environmental design.

TRANSPORT
ALTITUDE CURVES
Bergmeisterwolf

A connection between the city and the mountains that changes its appearance to reflect its settings – wood and glass in the Alps and concrete in the downtown area. This is an architectural pathway that adapts and shapes itself along the way, connecting the city and creating new meeting places.

URBAN PLANNING
THE CONNECTED CITY
Adept + Karres En Brands

This multifaceted urban development is intended to connect Hamburg’s brownfield areas through innovative, inclusive planning. The landscape is the protagonist here. The public spaces and the network of connections between the different areas create a mosaic of neighborhoods with different population densities. The sustainability of this project on an urban scale has already been certified – an endorsement of its innovative, avant-garde character.

VILLA
RURAL VILLA
Parisotto+Formenton Architetti

A typical farmhouse with a central yard reinterpreted through contemporary eyes. The organizational fulcrum of the surrounding property, the house has an H-shaped plan that defines the boundaries between private space and the countryside.
