The Power of Stone, Marmomacc 2016

The Italian Stone Theatre
By Editorial Staff -

The exhibition "The Power of Stone", curated by Raffaello Galiotto, seeks to combine the age-old tradition of stone processing with the contemporary language of design.
Design is interpreted as the "overall project" that involves and manages the production process, devices, tools and software used to manufacture high-tech works with a strong formal impact. Processes taken to extreme limits, complex surfaces, high-precision details, reduction of waste and the enhancement of the characteristics of the material are the common denominator in each work.
The exhibition comprises a sequence of installations developed using Italian technology and also aims to involve company personnel to help define new artisans with the technological skills needed to use digital instruments in order to process marble.
The Italian Stone Theatre exhibition in Hall 1 involves a series of installations by designer Raphael Galiotto accompanied by specific videos for an even better understanding of the works on display, how they were made, the machinery used and the specific characteristics and features of the materials.
The Power of Stone exhibition is part of The Italian Stone Theatre (Hall 1) project implemented by Marmomacc with support of the Ministry for Economic Development (MISE), ICE-Italian Trade Agency and Confindustria Marmomacchine within the scope of the Special “Made in Italy” Promotion Plan valorising excellence in the Italian natural stone and related technology field.
