The Architects Series: A Documentary on Zaha Hadid Architects

Edited By Editorial Staff - 13 November 2020

Thanks to the new online platform, you’ll be able to register to stream live the 15th conference event organized by THE PLAN magazine for Iris Ceramica Group on Thursday, November 26, from 6 pm CET (12 pm US EST, 5 pm GMT), called “The Architects Series – A Documentary on Zaha Hadid Architects”.

Zaha Hadid Architects is the British architecture studio founded by renowned and awarded architect and designer Zaha Hadid. Patrik Schumacher, since 2016 Principal of Zaha Hadid Architects, together with his collaborators, will show us the London studio’s completed and future projects.

The screening of the approximately 30-minute video documentary will be followed by a live lecture by Patrik Schumacher: “Cyber Space and the Autopoiesis of Architecture”. The event will offer a deeper insight into the studio’s design philosophy, while providing an opportunity to discuss issues related to the world of architecture. The event will conclude with a Q&A session, in which participants will be able to ask questions directly to the architect.

Content of the lecture: “Cyberspace and the Autopoiesis of Architecture”

In the near future, cyberspace is where all architectural actions and innovation will unfold. Any choice made within this space involves all three of the distinct parts of a project as defined in Patrik Schumacher’s architectural theory: the organizational project, the phenomenological project, and the semiological project, of which the last is the key element.

Since all urban spaces are never merely simple physical containers that transport and channel bodies/objects because they are also always spaces for travel and interaction, an information-rich communicative character becomes the very essence of all cyberspace.

Whether real or virtual, designing architectural works implies the development of a spatial/visual language to enhance communicative capacity, making it possible to create environments rich in readable information that promote new forms of social interaction at all levels.

The course is under approval by AIA CES-USA and approved by CPD-UK for RIBA members for learning units recognition.
