Decarbonization, ESG strategies, circular economy, sustainability, climate resilience: these are the key topics to be explored during the first edition of RICS - World Built Environment Forum Europe. The summit, organized by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in collaboration with Generali Real Estate, will be held in Venice at the Procuratie Vecchie, a historic landmark building, on October 19 and 20, 2023.
On the occasion of the event, industry leaders from various countries of the European Union will gather for a discussion on the theme, Decarbonizing the Built Environment in Europe: a sustainable approach for people, planet and profit.
The World Built Environment Forum Europe will be hosted at the Procuratie Vecchie, an example of excellent renovation of a historic building with a sustainability-related approach. The restoration of the Procuratie Vecchie was managed by Generali Real Estate with a project commissioned to David Chipperfield Architects, selected following an international competition to renovate and enhance the prestigious building while respecting its unique historical and cultural heritage. Today the Procuratie Vecchie is the new headquarters of The Human Safety Net.
In this prestigious setting, the European real estate community will come together to advance critically important discussions and shape the future of the profession and that of the built and natural environments.
Participants will be able to paint a picture of the effective decarbonization of the European built environment and sustainable investment practices amid the global economic downturn that is impacting the industry. The ESG agenda will be a unifying element of the event's activities, providing the basis on which to define next steps.
The World Built Environment Forum Europe is also proud to be an official side event of the Biennale of Sustainability, organized by the Venice Sustainability Foundation in Venice until November 25, 2023. The Foundation was born out of the belief that Venice's history of resilience can inspire the realization of a sustainable future capable of overcoming the complex challenges that threaten its very survival.
«As RICS Italy we are honored that our country has been chosen for the launch of this European-wide Summit. A special thanks goes to Generali Real Estate who kindly granted a unique and prestigious location to host the event.
As Arcadis we are committed to accompany the world of Real Estate and Infrastructure in the transition towards sustainability and net zero emission, that is why we decided to be a partner of this initiative. We are confident that stimulating discussion and meeting between the main institutions, associations, companies and professionals in Europe can accelerate this virtuous path and govern it to ensure balance and sustainable development in our continent».
«This is an excellent opportunity for our members and anyone who has an interest in the built and natural environment to get together in this beautiful location to network with people who are passionate about sustainability and future proofing our industry, trading best practice methods as well as hearing the latest industry thinking and innovative solutions to our biggest challenges».
