NEW VISIONS OF LIVING: RENOVATING FROM THE FAÇADE BACK

The renovation of two residential buildings in Alicante and Burgos based around Trespa® Meteon® panels

NEW VISIONS OF LIVING: RENOVATING FROM THE FAÇADE BACK

With its bars, flamenco tradition, famous Castillo de Santa Bárbara, and long beaches, typical of southeastern Spain’s Costa Blanca, Alicante is one of the most important tourist destinations in the province of the same name. Meanwhile, Burgos, located on the Camino de Santiago, is a medieval jewel in Castile and León. These two Spanish cities are the locations of two residential renovations that both had the main objective of improving energy efficiency, sustainability, and running costs for their respective occupants, but also to add to the value of their investment. These essential features link the two projects, with both also using Trespa® Meteon® cladding panels – a decorative high-pressure laminate, with high efficiency, resistance, and an enormous range of colors and finishes.

Besides giving the building an eye-catching, contemporary look, the renovation of Victoria Building in Alicante has improved its performance, internal cooling and heating efficiency, and its overall environmental impact. But it’s also lengthened the life expectancy of the structure, which was previously fifty years.

The large size of the cladding panels made it possible to cover the entire façade in marble, adding 55,000 euros to each apartment, which have jumped in value from 310,000 to 365,000 euros.

Improvements were also made to the building’s energy rating (from class G to class D) and carbon dioxide emissions (from G to C).

Under the direction of architect Daniel Gómez, the renovation of the residential building in Burgos centered on constructing a new ventilated façade with Trespa® Meteon® panels. The result for residents is improved energy efficiency, interior comfort, and the overall value of the property, which was boosted by the more effective insulation. Other benefits of using Trespa® Meteon® panels included the wide range of colors and finishes available, strength, durability, and an unconditional ten-year color guarantee. And, as Gómez commented, the product offers “ease of cleaning, impact resistance, and fast installation.”

Similarly to the building in Alicante, the renovation project using Trespa products increased the value of each apartment by 7,500 euros, from 82,500 to the 90,000 euros.
