The first FESI, the Exhibition of Sustainable and Integrated Construction, will take place October 14–16, 2025, at the BolognaFiere exhibition center. Messe Frankfurt previewed this event dedicated to smart building technologies at a press conference held at Monte Rosa 91, Milan.
Set against a backdrop in which environmental regulations are pushing the market towards increasingly sustainable buildings, FESI is an innovative, multidisciplinary event intended to offer a far-reaching overview of innovations in the sector, from building automation to IoT integration, energy management, building security, HVAC, electrical and lighting systems, smart mobility, and vertical circulation systems.
FESI is an unmissable opportunity for industry professionals who want to position themselves at the forefront of change. It’s an immersive and educational experience targeted at designers, engineers, architects, builders, public administrators, and facility managers, to promote innovative and sustainable solutions that will respond to the environmental and technological challenges of tomorrow.
“FESI was created to respond to the needs of the Italian market, which are rapidly evolving following the recent European directive. The legislation includes more stringent energy and environmental standards for buildings aimed at reducing carbon emissions and improving energy efficiency by 2030. After discussions over recent months with top industry players and associations, the need for an event such as FESI became obvious. The exhibition is therefore intended to be a point of reference for the entire sector, offering genuine and innovative solutions in response to the challenges posed by this major transformation.
We made the strategic choice of staging FESI at Bologna’s exhibition center – a venue that’s set to transform itself over the next few years as part of the design and implementation of a new TEK (Technology, Entertainment, Knowledge) district. Involving an area of over 210 hectares, this is a major sustainable urban regeneration project for the city, which is set to become a European hub for big data and artificial intelligence”.

The Exhibition of Sustainable and Integrated Construction will include three days of activities centered around a large exhibition area. Each event will focus on the latest in eco-sustainable and digital technologies, home automation systems, and energy efficiency. The fair will also include a busy program of conferences and workshops (with the awarding of Italian professional training credits for participants), addressing topics such as digitalization, building information modeling, and artificial intelligence.
Successful case studies will also be on show to provide attendees with practical insights into the impact of smart building technology on the residential sector.
An advisory board of industry experts is currently collaborating to identify the key issues to be addressed at the first edition of the trade show. The board includes the IBIMI buildingSMART Italia association, the ESCO association of energy service companies, Federesco, and ASSIL, the National Association of Lighting Manufacturers. International design studios, including OneWorks and Lombardini22, are also supporting FESI.
