Maison&Objet’s first event of the year has officially started. After being postponed from its original dates in January, the biannual exhibition around lifestyle returns in Paris and opens now its doors to experts until March 28th.
Among the prestigious items featured at the spring exhibition you can find design decorations, pieces of furniture, fabrics and perfumes brought together by imagination, traditional craftsmanship, high-tech and pop culture. This theme was chosen “to tap into an expertise and this one-of-a-kind lifestyle, which can be found nowhere else”, said the fair’s General Manager Philippe Brocart. According to the promoters, meeting the visitors’ needs has never been more important than in such uncertain times. Therefore, the audience is looking for something different and original.
“New luxury: from uber luxury to lux populis” has been chosen as the spring theme, narrating a journey through the different aspects of haute couture. Uber luxury is meant here as the perfect combination of craftsmanship and new technologies, two pillars that influence each other with the roots of artisans’ traditional hand skills soaking into the hi-tech future. Further inspiration is drawn from street culture and from a generation who’s grown among reality TV and social media.
Almost 2,000 exhibitors arranged throughout 14 halls will showcase many different styles with their finest creations and 15 installations. More than 20 conferences will also take place at the fair.
As every year, an architect of exception is nominated and the “Designer of the year” honor was given to Franklin Azzi, whose cross-disciplinary approach is characterized by his many points of view and his ability to merge various disciplines.
The event takes place from 24th to 28th March at the Paris Nord Villepinte exhibition center. Many side events and special exhibitions are also organized, respectively Rising Talent Award Japan, Maison&Objet in the city as well as TeamLab, The Invisible Collection and Carte blanche to… Don’t miss the second event of the year from 8th to 12th September.
