Designed by Progetto CMR with interiors designed by DEGW, a business unit of Lombardini Group22 specializing in office spaces, Beauty Hub L’Oréal Italia has just opened in the newly developed The Sign business district. Located in the southwest quadrant of Milan and overseen by Covivo, the project has repurposed disused areas of the former Fonderia Vedani industrial site into a vibrant hub for both businesses and residents.

L'Oréal Italia headquarters is the latest piece of The Sign, is Italy’s first urban regeneration initiative to earn BiodiverCity certification, which recognizes projects that incorporate biodiversity-enhancing practices into every stage of design and construction.Beauty Hub L'Oréal Italia - Progetto CMR e Lombardini22 ©Andrea Martiradonna, courtesy Progetto CMR

The latest addition to The Sign, L’Oréal Italia’s headquarters is a nine-story building with a curtain wall façade defined by an elegant interplay of glass and metal. Designed with the needs of future occupants in mind, the interiors are flexible and dynamic, with adaptable offices and versatile common areas.

Expansive terraces on the fourth and eighth floors offer panoramic views of central Milan and overlook both Piazza Fernanda Pivano and the new Piazza del Parterre, which will soon open to the public.Beauty Hub L'Oréal Italia - Progetto CMR e Lombardini22 ©Andrea Martiradonna, courtesy Progetto CMR

In keeping with the overarching vision of the development, Beauty Hub L’Oréal Italia was designed to meet stringent environmental sustainability standards. Its façades feature high thermal and acoustic performance, while a photovoltaic system generates clean energy. A sophisticated Building Management System (BMS) regulates access, security, fire detection, lighting, and climate control.

The building's functional program includes open-plan offices, co-working areas, break areas, outdoor terraces, modular meeting rooms with reconfigurable walls, display areas for the brand's products, the company restaurant, and, on the top floor, La Terrazza L'Oréal, with the cafeteria, an ideal place for informal meetings with clients and partners. Each environment is designed to evoke a sense of welcome and warmth, with a design that reflects the identity of L'Oréal Italia. Materials and shapes alternate to ensure visual and functional variety, while the use of colors representative of the brand's values green for sustainability, pink for beauty products, and light blue for the pharmaceutical division further enhances the spaces.Beauty Hub L'Oréal Italia - Progetto CMR e Lombardini22 ©Andrea Martiradonna, courtesy Lombardini22

The choice of eco-friendly materials, intelligent management of natural light, energy-efficient ventilation system, and attention to acoustics with the use of sound-absorbing panels ensure a healthy and comfortable environment.
