With its title Let’s Play Terrazzo, Agglotech’s installation at Milan’s Fuorisalone 2025 is an invitation to architects and designers – among others – to discover the beauty of terrazzo, its vibrant hues, myriad patterns, and its endless possibilities for innovation and creating personalized spaces. Agglotech is a Verona-based firm specializing in terrazzo production, established with the aim of transforming this classic material into a symbol of contemporary excellence and design.

Created for Milano Design Week in collaboration with Michael Vincent UY (founder of MVUY), this interactive installation is sited in the outdoor area of a traditional Milanese café at Corso Monforte 4. Its aim is to inspire people to reimagine a material that was once dismissed as little more than marble waste but, thanks to its versatility and the creative possibilities it offers, is now emerging as a key element in contemporary design.

Leading this vision is Michael Vincent UY, Agglotech’s new creative director, who invites us to rediscover the concept of play and to reflect on the essence of terrazzo by experimenting, exploring, and blurring the boundaries of creativity. “We’ve always worked to interpret contemporary needs, without losing sight of our identity, by merging traditional expertise with modern techniques to give our clients truly tailor-made solutions,” said Marco Bellamoli, managing director of Agglotech. “By combining our passion for craftsmanship with advanced technologies, we can create original combinations that meet the specific demands of architects, designers, contractors, and builders around the world.”

The birth of Let’s Play Terrazzo

Reflecting the theme of this year’s Fuorisalone, Connected Worlds, Let’s Play Terrazzo was conceived as a kind of tent – a symbol of freedom and adaptability. The interiors are draped with green curtains with a terrazzo pattern, designed to highlight the parallel between the fluidity of the fabric and the versatility of the material.

At the center of the space, and the installation’s focal point, is a billiard table crafted entirely in terrazzo, complete with coordinated balls – the result of painstaking research into the expressive potential of the material. Complementing the table, terrazzo seating, stools, tables, and checkerboard-pattern flooring work together to recreate the ambiance of a classic billiard hall or traditional Italian café. Just as terrazzo can be an interplay of contrasts, and isn’t limited to uniform colors, the checkerboard pattern encourages visitors to become active players in the experience.

This installation is a compelling space for architects and designers to connect, offering a chance to engage directly with Agglotech and step into the world of terrazzo and its many qualities.
