IE University Madrid is setting up a Creative Campus in the Palacio de los Condes de Mansilla, a historic building in central Segovia, just stone’s throw from Plaza Mayor. The facility, to open in 2025, will accommodate the IE School of Architecture and Design and will offer architecture, design, art, fashion, and business studies.
With a total floorspace of over 5000 m2, the Creative Campus will host research and experimentation laboratories dedicated to biomaterials, digital manufacturing classrooms, and an exhibition area. Fab Lab will be a space for promoting manufacturing with hi-tech tools.
Built between the 12th and 18th centuries, and restored in the 1970s, Palacio de los Condes de Mansilla was home to a higher education institution and the Domingo de Soto University College for 40 years. The building is now being redeveloped to house IE University’s Creative Campus.
Reflecting the university’s commitment to promoting positive change through education, research, and innovation, the project is intended to allow students to develop creativity and critical thinking skills in the uniquely stimulating ecosystem of Segovia, a UNESCO World Heritage City.
Through D-Lab, students and staff of the IE School of Architecture and Design are already in Segovia working on the design, production, and assembly of projects for schools, public institutions, and civic associations. With the new Creative Campus, this openness to the city and its people will be further strengthened. Hailing from 160 countries around the world, IE University students will work in collaboration with local and international companies, cultural institutions, and NGOs.
