The Mottolino Headquarters in Livigno, in the Sondrio area, is a cozy, hi-tech place to be. Designed for people to alternate high-altitude sports with entertainment and work, it is Europe’s first-ever Ski/Work Hub and the first private commission linked to the Milan/Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. The LPS (Laboratorio di Progettazione Sostenibile) studio came up with the architectural design; interior design was developed by Progetto CMR and executed by Concreta.

Mottolino Headquarters is a redevelopment of the Mottolino ski lift station in Valtellina, ushering in a new way of experiencing the mountains summer and winter. All in one place, the facility offers skiers and other visitors multiple spaces, as well as housing the Mottolino Fun Mountain company’s offices.

On the ground floor is the Service Center, a multipurpose area offering ski and mountain bike rentals, storage, a ticket office, a ski school and stores, all arranged around a full-height lobby flooded with light through the building’s glass façade, and equipped with large LEDwalls that engage visitors in an immersive experience.

A panoramic escalator leads to the upper levels, featuring the Digital Cave, a 300-sq. m area with a gaming room and coworking space with mountain views, as well as the Kosmo Taste the Mountain-Livigno & AlpiNN restaurant with cocktail bar, an expression of the ethical philosophy of Norbert Niederkofler, a three-Michelin-starred chef who also has a Green Star for sustainability.

The Mottolino Headquarters’ interiors reveal Concreta’s hallmark globality-led approach and its attention to detail. As fit-out contractor, the company delivered interior finishes for flooring, wall and ceiling coverings, custom furnishings – manufactured at its Postalesio headquarters – and supplied accessories from the catalogs of various Italian companies, including lighting solutions in partnership with Artemide. Custom-made elements include the restaurant’s 13 m-long central table created from a single piece of cedar wood and resin, and the 24 m-long wooden bar counter.

Special attention was paid to the acoustics in all bedrooms, using sound-absorbing panels designed, engineered, developed for fitting, tested for technical and esthetic requirements, and manufactured at Concreta’s facilities.
