In light of the impact of the current delicate situation we are facing this year, Downtown Design’s new virtual format has brought together industry operators through different digital platforms. Both professionals and design enthusiasts have come together in a rich program of Virtual Talks, a conceptual exhibition and a digital fair to be inspired to navigate the new design landscape.
The Shape of Things to Come, Downtown Design’s multi-media exhibition, has especially attracted the virtual public with a showcase of exploratory and future work from Middle East based architects and interior designers. The exhibition, curated by Dubai-based architect and designer Agata Kurzela, has highlighted the response of the region’s professionals to an evolving world and changing attitudes towards our surroundings.
The digital fair has been an opportunity to reconnect and engage with the thriving contemporary design scene, with the presentation of the latest collections and products of more than 150 leading international and regional design brands.
Finally, the Virtual Talks that were held November 9 through to November 14 have all given insight into the emerging values that will guide design in the future: “A New Design Culture”, “The Future Of Everything/Design Goes Viral”, “Design Strategies For The Real World”, “Craft X Contemporary”, “Designing For Humanity” and “An Eye To The Future” have been recorded and uploaded on Downtown Design’s website and YouTube channel.
You can still catch and watch all talks, learn about The Shape of Things to Come’s featured projects and discover the selected brand’s products and news at www.downtowndesign.com.
