Caccaro’s new door and wall panel system grew out of seeing space as a blank canvas for creating customized living environments. The firm set out to develop a whole new approach to designing flowing, welcoming living spaces using modular, flexible products that are both functional and pleasing to the eye. Dubbed Architype, the result is an innovative system for managing and dividing spaces that also combines with other products from the Freedhome catalog. Architype makes it possible, for example, for a living area to flow seamlessly into a sleeping area by using finishes and materials as a common element and connecting thread.
Unveiled at the 2024 Salone del Mobile in Milan, Architype is, according to Caccaro sales director, Roberto Caccaro,“a unique system for finishing walls and dividing spaces, always in true Caccaro style. Systems like this are part of our DNA, so we naturally accepted the challenge from interior designers; we see it as a strategic move for seizing future opportunities.”
The sales director went on to explain how the firm developed the system to offer elegance combined with ease of use and functionality. But Architype has another special feature: “Our aim was to develop a complete system within the Caccaro 4.0 range that responds to every complexity, and with every detail carefully developed from both the stylistic and technical perspectives. We took all the complexities onboard to offer design professionals simple, intuitive products.”
Architype is an integral part of Caccaro art director Monica Graffeo’s No-Wall House, Space as Canvas concept. “Furnishings and finishes are no longer something that can simply be dropped into a space,” says Grafeo. “They dialogue with the shape and proportions of the space, even changing them. They affect spaces and openings in interesting and even surprising ways. Lighting and the seamless flow of spaces are both important factors for wellbeing.” Architype, therefore, grew out of in-depth study into creating environments in which relationships between people, spaces, furnishings, and finishes are optimized.
At first glance, some elements might seem to be solely aesthetic. A closer look, however, reveals that each one has its own intrinsic functionality. “Even if we think they’re just aesthetic,” continued Graffeo, “closer inspection shows that they add depth to a space – a depth of field that can continue to capture our attention. Having our attention recaptured makes us feel good and recharges us.” With Architype, therefore, space becomes a medium for experimenting, innovating, and transforming – a blank canvas on which furniture, finishes, and architecture dialogue.
The Architype system comprises the two essential elements of doors and wall panels, both designed to create an ongoing dialogue. The panels are highly versatile, making them suitable for a wide range of applications. Compatibility with the Freedhome and Wallover systems makes it possible to create complete and seamless finishes in every part of the home.
The doors sit perfectly flush with the front and back of the Freedhome units. Their concealed hinges respect the clean lines of the composition. They are available in all the most luxurious Caccaro finishes, and in inward and outward opening versions. Architype doors can also be customized to meet specific design needs, reflecting the firm’s commitment to innovation and product quality.
