By Editorial Staff -

On 24th January at 6.30 pm, the head quarter of the Chamber of Architects of the Province of Milan will host the conference “Architecture for culture in Finland. The new projects Amos Rex and Oodi. Talk with JKMM Architects and ALA Architects”. During the event, the architects will present the project for the Amos Rex art museum and that for Oodi, Helsinki’s new central library. Its aim is to highlight the role and the importance that Finland, and its capital city in particular, reserve for cultural buildings. The event, promoted by Foundation of the Chamber of Architects of the Province of Milan in cooperation with the Embassy of Finland and the ATL – Association of Finnish Architects’ Offices and with the patronage of the City of Helsinki, SAFA – Finnish Association of Architects, Italian Council of Architects and Archinfo Finland – Architecture Information Centre Finland, is curated by the architect Arianna Callocchia. It has been designed to foster and develop a dialogue and a comparison between the Finnish situation and the Italian one within the context of contemporary cultural projects. After a welcome from Paolo Mazzoleni, President of the Chamber of Architects of the Province of Milan and Birgitte Kankaro, Consular and Public Diplomacy officer, Embassy of Finland, the conference will start with an introductory talk by Arianna Callocchia, curator of the initiative. It will be followed by two talks, one by Asmo Jaaksi, SAFA Architect, JKMM Architects Ltd and the other by Antti Nousjoki, SAFA Architect, ALA Architects Ltd. Asmo Jaaksi will illustrate the project for Amos Rex, a futuristic cultural hub that, as a dialogue between past and present, offers Helsinki a new cultural space, a contemporary art museum and a cinema. Antti Nousjoki will present Oodi – Helsinki Central Library. A new library that offers the Finnish capital an additional contemporary space that is versatile and flexible, dedicated to learning, educational activities and reading. The event will conclude with a final debate moderated by Fulvio Irace, professor Politecnico of Milan. Event participants will be eligible for two training credits.
