Six years after World War II, and exactly one hundred years after the famous Great Exhibition of 1851, the first international exhibition of manufactured products took place. Named the Festival of Britain, it was a brave and important showcase of British manufacturing and design. It was this event, and the style of that period, that inspired Southbank by Perrin & Rowe, a House of Rohl brand. This new collection of hand-forged brass kitchen faucets will be available from summer 2024.
Behind their painstaking design is the awareness of how the kitchen is increasingly the epicenter of homes. The designers therefore focused on ways to give this room a more decorative, more personalized appearance than in the past that’s also more in step with contemporary needs.
Perrin & Rowe’s Southbank draws its inspiration from mid-20th century British design, as exhibited at 1951’s Festival of Britain. The proportions of these new faucets are close to perfect, with every detail precise and elegant, and many references to the iconic faucet designs of the 1950s. Like all Perrin & Rowe brass products, Southbank is crafted in its Midlands foundry and then assembled in Rainham, just 15 miles east of London’s Festival Hall, the heart of the 1951 exhibition.
Besides a bridge sink mixer and a single-lever mixer, the new collection includes instant hot water and filtration faucets, as well as a mini hot water and cold filtration faucet. Art, sculpture, and innovative forms all come together in this new design, making the range ideal for creating kitchens with contemporary elegance.
