Located in the heart of Rome, only a stone’s throw from Piazza di Spagna, the four-star Al Manthia Hotel was recently given a contemporary overhaul and refurbishment centered on making aesthetic decisions and using materials that truly exalt the complex’s articulated interior layout. The brief was to modernize the hotel’s image through the use of finishings, claddings and furnishings that convey a sense of careful selection and provide a far clearer interpretation of space usage. The environments varied both in size and use, making it essential to find a suitably flexible partner. The solution was Lapitec®’s sintered stone, an element that could successfully be adapted to the sign at the entrance, the stairs in the hall and even the cladding in the rooms. The approach adopted was to carefully select the best specific material to ensure the interior visual division of space gave the improved clarity of style and use sought by the client. In practical terms, this meant three different lines of Lapitec® finishings were used, with each carefully analyzed to ensure it perfectly met the specific needs for which it was chosen. The Satin finish line, in the Moca and Avana colors, is a wonderfully elegant choice for the public areas, including for the breakfast buffet table and for the shelves in the rooms. This bright stone is remarkably versatile, available in a range of colors that ensure it can be harmoniously used in different spaces with varying elements. Dune has a special micro-hammered finish that creates a play of light and dark to produce a 3D effect - it was chosen for the stairs in the hall and the reception counter, in Grigio Piombo. The third and final finish was Vesuvio, with a strongly material feel especially in the chosen Nero Antracite. It is used sparingly but elegantly in places such as the spa bath in the suite and the hotel’s entrance sign. The much more modern hotel has a new material feel created by the mixture of Lapitec® surfaces and other claddings. This use of colors and materials truly achieves the desired sense of elegance and harmony the owners want each guest to experience.
