Driven by technological developments, modern working environments are experiencing a transformation period for the role and placement of workstations, but this by no means reduces their importance. Desks have long since moved beyond the notion of being merely a working surface, and are now required to be multi-purpose spaces for individual and group work, while also offering the necessary support for technology and space for storing personal documents. In response, Estel has a comprehensive 14 products in its Workstation catalogue to cater both for the more traditional concept of a workstation, with a fixed height of 74 cm, and for the more modern, ergonomic conceptions of the Sit&Stand solution (adjustable height from 60 to 125 cm), a now standard option in northern Europe and the United States. There are four Sit&Stand desks, each
with a screen panel fixed to the structure or the working surface to ensure all the accessories follow the ergonomic or private needs of the user. Every Estel project is ultimately based on four macro-themes: making sure the user gets sufficient privacy, guaranteed through the use of sound-absorbing front and side screen panels in glass or rubber and technical fabric; electrification, to offer maximum connectivity through a cable housing system and practical top access; ergonomics, by using designs in which posture is a key element, and the edges and corners are rounded; and finally customization, including the option to integrate accessories, such as tray holders, lamps, monitor arms, whiteboards, CPU holders and bluetooth receivers. In addition to its free-standing desks, Estel has developed a line called I Pianeti that uses Top Fly containers as a structural basis. The benefit of this is the base of a desk can include drawers, filing cabinets, CPU holders, EcoBoxes or a special compartment for the Chair Box Vallet stool. Alternatively, Joint containers can be used as a base, especially since, at 125 cm high, they provide plenty of vertical filing space while also increasing user privacy. The final part of the Workstation collection is Banko, a range of 110-cm-high tables for operational meetings, each with top access and an undercounter tray for electrical elements. Wooden, steel, aluminum, melamine, laminate or glass and fabric finishes are available for the entire collection, offering an incredible variety that designers can leverage to find the ideal, customized solution for the space they are planning.
