31/44 ARCHITECTS
31/44 Architects was established in 2010 by directors William Burges, James Jeffries and Stephen Davies, with studios in both London and the Netherlands – as referenced in the practice name. Predominantly based in London, near Brick Lane, the practice currently comprises a team of ten architects and architectural assistants.
Projects range in scale from significant urban buildings to single houses. Completed projects include a family home in the Netherlands, a mixed-use retail and hotel building in Shoreditch, and a number of one-off individual homes around London. The practice has also recently caught the attention of the architectural press, garnering nominations and awards for No. 49 and Red House.
Projects are characterised by a thoughtful response to context, conceived not in isolation, but growing instead out of the particular conditions of each setting. This results in buildings with an inherent connection to their site whilst ensuring they are also a close reflection of clients’ requirements.
31/44 have taught an undergraduate studio at Kingston School of Art and Architecture since 2010. Teaching is a fundamental part of the practice; the constant articulation of ideas, observations and proposals required in the teaching studio also enriches the design studio.

JOHN ROBERTSON ARCHITECTS
John Robertson Architects produces carefully considered, contextual and modern designs that deliver real value to our clients. Our work is guided by the principle of contextual civic modernism, aiming to preserve the historic fabric and character of our cities, whilst adding to them with contemporary buildings that enhance the experience of the city as a whole.
Since its formation in 1993, the practice has delivered a substantial number of high quality buildings both in the UK and abroad. Our work includes many large office and residential schemes, as well as sensitive restoration and redevelopment projects of significant historical and architectural value.
JRA’s offices are based in the Bankside area of Central London across five studios. Our teams have considerable expertise in the delivery and monitoring process and JRA have an established Executive Architecture studio dedicated to this type of work. The delivery team is a valuable resource and their work informs the wider practice in creating efficient designs and lowering construction risks.
We are currently working on a wide range of interesting and challenging new-build and office refurbishment projects in Central London, as well as interior design commissions for new office headquarters projects.
