Sheppard Robson is one of the UK’s most established architectural practices, with a reputation for thoughtful and responsible designs.
In the practice’s 80-year history, Sheppard Robson has designed award-winning architecture, interior design and masterplanning projects around the world, building a strong reputation across numerous typologies - including office, education, residential, healthcare, science and retail projects.
From our offices in London, Manchester and Glasgow, the founding principles of innovation and sustainability continue to shape the work of the practice and its interior design group (ID:SR), reinterpreted and enlivened by the creative talent of our designers.
The work of the practice benefits from an ability to have a constructive dialogue with clients and end-users, as well as collaborating closely with other members of the project team throughout the design and delivery of a project.
An award winning architectural and heritage consultancy practice, we employ a talented workforce of 250 people across the UK and around the world. We have now grown to have UK studios in Bristol, Cambridge, Canterbury, Cardiff, Colchester, Edinburgh, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Norwich, Oxford and York, and overseas in Hong Kong, Sydney and Melbourne.
With our strong commitment to quality, we collaborate on many of the most significant buildings in the UK and Asia Pacific. We provide sensitive restoration and repair schemes and bold contemporary design in historic contexts. Today, Purcell is one of the world’s leading design practices with over 70 years of experience, proudly creating sustainable places for tomorrow.
CONRAN AND PARTNERS
Conran and Partners is driven by a strong and unwavering belief that great design improves the quality of people’s lives.
Through our work as a collaborative design studio, we are singularly focused on creating spaces that are a joy to be in, evoking a welcoming sense of place where communities can thrive.
Our team of masterplanners, architects, and designers has a world-class reputation, with a pedigree that spans over half a century. Founded by Sir Terence Conran, our RIBA Chartered Practice combines this valuable heritage with a contemporary vision that transforms bold ideas into truly inspiring buildings, interiors and products.
Architectural projects range from single properties to regeneration schemes, and we are renowned for breathing new life into historic buildings. We do this through stunning conceptual design, complemented by detailed technical knowledge on everything from planning and standards compliance, to public consultation and tendering. Yet above all else, we know that the best architecture comes from understanding exactly how people live. This awareness is what shapes buildings of real character.
Openstudio Architects create environments whose poetic language intensifies a sense of being present. Their tactile designs quietly unfold through the fundamentals of time, light and space. Thoughtful details and carefully selected materials contribute to the sense of place, which is particular to the context and history of each project.
Openstudio won the international open RIBA Taylor Wimpey 2020 competition to design prototype housing across the UK in 2017 and is currently implementing the prototypes. The studio has been shortlisted for the NLA New Ideas for Housing competition and the WAN House of the Year award. Previous awards include shortlisting for the Birmingham Centenary Square competition and winning the international Smallest Coolest Apartment of the Year. The practice is currently exhibiting a film installation as part of the 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale, and is featured in Architects’ Houses by Michael Webb, documenting thirty of the best architects’ houses from around the world built in the last ten years.
