INTRO
The project pursues, even in the most detailed aspects, the full will and objectives that are envisaged in the program proposed by the Administration, for the redevelopment of the competition sites object. The aim is to recover and consolidate the terracings and Saracen gardens to enhance a spatial morphology anthropized by man for more than a millennium, and documented, even if part of a degraded suburb, as an integrated system in the historic center and therefore heritage whose natural value has contributed to the decision of environmental protection established since the first law of 1939. Based on the capacity of the funding the intervention is aimed at the recovery of both terraces and gardens.
The terrace area is a steep shoulder of the hill testimony, with the gardens, of the irrigation system, coming from the Arab culture of populations settled here who created a system of drainage and capture of karst and surface meteoric waters, making them available for cultivation, vegetable garden and orchard with the final result of an added environmental value of undoubted landscape charm.
Gardens and terracing walls were made of the same sandstone recovered from the hypogean excavations under the houses built over the centuries. Recovery will not only be the most effective way to avoid the degradation to which the millennial system of consolidation is progressively progressing, but will also trigger a mechanism for the recovery of crop products (vegetables and fruit) once destined for self-consumption.
Project lays its foundations on fundamental criteria of self-production and self-control typical of Complex Systems in which various systems generate wealth and self-control based on internal self-management mechanisms (principles of fractal geometry).

PROJECT DESIGNS
The basic idea is to create a "Sensory System" that joins the North to the South of the country, on the East side of the Gardens and terraces, through the existing terraces that exploit and qualify the geomorphological peculiarities of the East side.
Path can be subdivided into three fundamental systems:
- System of Areas and Equipped Terraces; private terraces for public use where, depending on the period and the need, you can equip events and fairs for sale and distribution of typical products with the aim of self-sustaining local production and management of the system of thematic routes.
- System of the Gardens / Aromatic Terraces (Aromatherapy): along the path, equipped with relaxation areas and for rest and recreation, there are a series of gardens with various aromas (lavender, thyme, rosemary, eucalyptus, pine, mint, etc.). The plants, producing various exceptional shents, accompany the journey and allow a unique sensory experience, similar to the well-known Aromatherapy treatments, so that the walk along the Gardens and Terraces is also enriched by a fundamental medical value.
- Garden System / Chromatic Terraces (Chromotherapy): alternating with aromatic gardens there is a rainbow, literally, of gardens full of the most common types of flowers and flowering plants in the area. The perceptual experience enriched by the flower plantations adds a further step to the sensory path.
The color gardens redefine the front of the eastern slope of the Tricarico hill, giving a new character to what today is a front that no longer has the identity of time. The flowering of the gardens will be a catalyst event of the new interest that will raise the town of Tricarico to the national community; the redevelopment of the escarpment and the restoration of the old walls and of the ancient irrigation canals of the gardens will restore the ancient interest in the village.
Parallel to the tourist attraction dictated by the already famous "Sassi di Matera", the local project of the sensorial path along the chromatic / aromatic gardens will redefine a broader urban concept linked to a new Multipolar Reality together with the municipality of Matera, which will produce a major attraction at the supra-municipal level.
The project also acts as a join between the old and the new and between the periphery downstream and the historic center upstream; a series of climbing routes with ramps equipped and tiered favors the urban bridge effect between downtown and "Downtown", allowing the usability of places currently impracticable.
The economic and urban feasibility will be fostered by the involvement of the Private in the management of the properties on which the Gardens and the Chromium / aromatic Terraces insist.
In addition to the declaration of public utility of the properties to be allocated to equipped squares / terraces, the restoration of the terraces and the floral seminars will be entrusted to individuals, leaving them the property and management.
The realization of the equipped sensorial path will be the burden of the Public Administration starting from the Financing to which it will be possible to access; some areas destined to gardens will be destined to "Urban Gardens", as public areas while the color gardens will be private properties but of public use.
All areas equipped for public use will be owned and managed by the municipality.
