In Pune, the SĀR Studio Residence emerges as a natural extension of the land. Navkar Architects’ design stands out for being perfectly integrated into the Maharashtra landscape. Positioned on a slope descending toward the jungle, the building utilizes the site’s contours to blend into the environment, fostering an ongoing dialogue between architecture and nature.

The guest experience begins with a pathway of terraced steps that, in addition to serving as a retaining wall, unites functionality with design by offering seating and exhibition space. One of the project’s key features is the way it strikes a balance between solids and voids. Architect Girish Doshi lavished the same meticulousness on enclosed spaces and open areas, among other things transforming courtyards and patios into gathering places.

The entrance is characterized by a double-height passage that allows visitors to gradually discover the architecture. The natural materials used in the sandstone floors and lime finishes imbue the space with earthy colors, creating an interior that resonates with the essence of the surrounding landscape. The pool at the heart of the design amplifies connections with nature. A place for contemplation and relaxation, the pool reflects the building’s lines and lush surrounding vegetation.

The interior layout accommodates a variety of needs. Work-focused areas create intimate settings for meetings; living spaces open up to views of the jungle. Every detail, from the carefully positioned openings that frame picturesque views to the staircase leading to the terrace, was designed to enrich people’s experience.
