Contest The award ceremony on 29 September 2017 at the Church of Saints Demetrio and Bonifacio in Naples concluded the international ideas contest “Neapolis, living as a Student”. Open to students of the Faculties of Architecture and Engineering, specializing in architecture, the contest entailed designing a university hall of residence in the heart of the old town of Naples, the ancient Neapolis. 190 students from Italian, European and non-European faculties submitted their projects by the closing date of June 30, 2017. Of the 80 groups registered, 60 submitted their work. Seven projects were selected and two received mentions: “Nu_Cube” by Cristina Spada and Lisa Battipaglia from Naples, and “25_65” by Simone Parola, Simone Collinetti, Mattia Salvador, Riccardo Ronzani, and Samuele Sciarretta, from Turin. Of those selected, the Special Jury Prize went to the project “al_Margine” by Giovangiuseppe Vannelli and Piero Zizzania, architecture students from Naples. The other short-listed projects were: “Hippodamus Housing” by Daria Cesario and Anna De Chiara from Antwerp; “06//” by Emanuela Russo and Elisa Visone, Naples; “Courtyards” by Edyta Baran, James Murnaghan, Viktoria Hevesi, Dublin; “18//” by Floriana Ruggiero and Bianca Maria Rodriguez, Aversa (Province of Caserta); “EntrUPia, the roofs city” by Arianna Palumbo, Vittorio Boemio, Domenico Ciaravolo, Annalisa Falcone, and Ersilia Fiore, Naples; and “50//” by Salvatore Pesarino, Martina Iacente, and Anna Troiano, also from Naples.
