In September, during the 3rd annual LEAF (Leading European Architects Forum) the winning entries for the pan-European LEAF Awards were announced. Nearly 250 senior executives from major architectural practices from across Europe and North America gathered in Barcelona for the Forum and the Awards ceremony.
The Jury consisted of Peter Murray, founder Director of the London Architecture Biennale, Charles Knevitt, Director of RIBA Trust, Vicky Richardson Editor of Blueprint magazine, Andrea Wiegelmann, Editor of Detail magazine and Mario Nicolaou, architect, who sought to recognise strategic excellence, marketplace impact and above all innovation and practical developments that have both challenged and changed the way we consider and evaluate the buildings of today. The judging panel had to select over a total of nine individual categories and one overall winner for the LEAF Awards Winning entrants included the IT University of Copenhagen, by Henning Larsen Tegnestue Architects, the installation Urban Elements in Central Park, New York by Rieder Smart Elements and the Dockland Office Building in Hamburg by BRT Architekten.
