Comfort, nature, and hospitality are the three pillars that characterize Marcandole, the renowned seafood restaurant located in the province of Treviso, along the banks of the Piave River. After a deep renovation and expansion of the interior and exterior spaces, the restaurant has taken on a whole new look, inspired by the surrounding landscape and the warm, authentic atmosphere of the place.

Visual Display’s design for the new spaces places great attention on the harmony between light study and color tones, with a particular focus on natural tones – from beige to warm gray to brown – giving character and personality to the environment. All the rooms are distinguished by original design choices but are in dialogue with each other, with a contemporary stone floor and honey-colored oak wood inserts or handmade terracotta tiles.

Upon entering, guests are greeted by a polished brass counter to the left, which gives the impression of being suspended from the ground with its geometries. The environment is also embellished with amorphous copper and reed sculptures, designed and realized specifically for the project, that decorate the entrance and fireplace room. The adjacent space is made more intimate by a screen made of three-dimensional oak wood shapes. It serves as a backdrop to a large oval table made of Cipollino marble, lit by soft lighting from lightweight copper-colored chandeliers. The same geometries decorate the wall paneling, which provides a glimpse of the cooks at work through a large opening, revealing the true soul of the restaurant: the kitchen.

The ceiling, entirely clad with natural matting, characterizes the new wing of the restaurant, recalling the typical architectures of fishermen’s residences of the Venetian lagoon. In the center of the room, the protagonist is a large three-sided fireplace with a natural stone terrazzo-effect base. Attention to detail is essential in the design, from the choice of materials to the geometries to the furnishings, whose neutral color is perfectly juxtaposed with the subtle color palette that distinguishes the project. The delicacy and care of the place are combined with the quality and professionalism of the kitchen, which has always been devoted to hospitality and customer well-being.

Outside, the front of the restaurant has been completely redesigned with a burnished metal gate, new window and door frames, dedicated lighting, and walkways with spacious, welcoming green areas. The landscape surrounding the restaurant and the new bioclimatic pergola are inspired by riverine vegetation, with a variety of perennials, flowering shrubs, and herbs that create an evocative and pleasant mix.

Marcandole’s atmosphere is made unique by a perfect fusion between elegant design and natural materials that embellish every corner of the environment. Comfort and well-being combine with the beauty of the surrounding nature, immersing customers in a refined and suggestive atmosphere. “It was time for a change”, said Roberta Rorato, the body and soul of the restaurant since 1992. “After renovating the open kitchen in both rooms, the beating heart of the restaurant, I felt the need to give Marcandole a new personality, capable of giving a unique experience to our clients”.
