A rolling landscape sprinkled with olives and cypresses surrounds the Hotel Paradis Agricole, located just outside Pietrasanta, in the heart of Versilia. The property, which was created from the conversion of a typical farmhouse in the Tuscan countryside, is nestled in a vast estate between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Apuan Alps and houses a myriad of contemporary artworks inside. French entrepreneurs and collectors Alain Cirelli and Laurent Flechet have brought to life a hospitality project that combines well-being derived from a newfound contact with nature and the joy of discovering the history and traditions of one of the world’s most renowned and appreciated regions – with which they too have fallen in love.
As refined and exclusive as a luxury hotel while contemporaneously as welcoming and authentic as an agritourism, Paradis Agricole includes seven rooms, in addition to common spaces like the lobby, bar, lounges with reading areas, a large and evocative brass kitchen, a cinema screening room, and a spa. In addition, those who want more privacy can stay in the annex called “La Casa delle Erbe,” a separate, 90 sq. m apartment, with two additional bedrooms. In warm weather, guests are invited to enjoy meals outdoors, seated around a large table that well represents the spirit of conviviality at the foundation of the project.
The hotel is spread over a green area of 8 ha, designed by landscape architect Jean Mus. Here, it is possible to stroll among the works of numerous artists like Bernard Bezzina and Nicola Giannoni, surrounded by olives and fruit trees, or linger at the farm animal pens. Guests can admire the sunset by the pond, relax by the pool, or practice yoga on the lawn. The property also includes ten greenhouses, two of which house a great open space set up with paintings and sculptures, as if it were an artist’s studio, intended for wedding receptions and other events. The other eight are used for growing fruits and vegetables. The site is self-sufficient in water supply and a portion of its energy needs is met by a solar panel system.
Vintage and contemporary furnishings blend into the hotel spaces, characterized by a palette of warm colors and local materials, with rustic finishings like exposed masonry walls, wooden ceilings with exposed beams, and terracotta or parquet floors, as well as Carrara marble cladding. The interior design was curated by the Parisian studio Point3architecture, which had designed the interiors of Hotel Paradis Pietrasanta for the same client a few years ago. The hotel stands in the center of the city, located within the walls of a historic palace, and features a garden that serves as an homage to the colors and smells of the Mediterranean. This combination between history and nature, art and gastronomy is the trait d’union between the Paradis located in an urban setting, a boutique hotel with a gourmet restaurant, and the Paradis set in the rural context, a country house with an organic farm. The two facilities, which are just one 1 km apart, propose a complete and innovative hospitality formula, making the dream of la dolce vita a reality.
