We are an international engineering practice specializing in structure and façades for architecturally challenging building projects. At Knippers Helbig Advanced Engineering, we see structure and facade as integral parts of a holistically developed and sustainable building concept. Our approach is deeply rooted in innovation, collaboration, and an integrative design process. Founded in 2001 by Prof. Dr. Jan Knippers and Thorsten Helbig, and joined by partner Boris Peter in 2012, the firm has a proven record of designing performative facades and complex structures in partnership with world-class architects and specialized contractors. With offices in Stuttgart, New York (2009) and Berlin (2014), a total of 65 engineers, architects, and physicists collaborate effectively to realize a growing body of projects worldwide, including: Shenzhen International Airport (Massimiliano Fuksas); Academy Museum for Motion Pictures (Renzo Piano Building Workshop); Museum of Fine Arts Houston (Steven Holl Architects), Astana Library Kazakhstan (Foster + Partners); Artists for Humanity Epicenter and the Allston Science Complex Harvard (Behnisch Architects).
