The practice can trace its roots to 1989 when architect Antonio Iraci founded his own studio. Since 2015, when architect Carla Maugeri came on board as a partner, the focus has been on creating homes, office blocks, industrial and public complexes, and hotels, along with exploring industrial design. The practice likes to oversee the entire process, from the original idea to the work at the building site, bringing to life small and large projects. The creative process is well-established, initially using the local urban fabric to draw out the guidelines for the layout. Building on this, by carefully placing structures slightly back from the street edge and "adding in" voids on the upper levels, the designers bring the architectural shape into focus. This essential compositional framework is then seen through a contemporary lens, integrating folds, interlocking elements, projections, solids and voids, mass and transparency. Different envelopes are used to foreground the practice's creations, along with the careful interlocking of monolithic structures. Architectural design is a dynamic process - a pathway that constantly leads to new discoveries.
