ALPI excels in reinterpreting the natural heritage of wood, transforming it into elegant, functional decorative surfaces with the potential to inspire designers and architects. In this vein, the company has introduced several new collections created in collaboration with acclaimed international designers and studios. The new collections were unveiled in early April in Milan during Salone del Mobile and Fuorisalone – two distinct yet closely related events that are among the key moments on the international design calendar – highlighting the full creative potential and design versatility of wood. Standout pieces in these collections include Alpi Kasumi and Alpi Futae, both designed by the Japanese studio nendo. They embody the spirit of Japanese design, blending minimalism with sophistication.

The Kasumi Collection, available in Grey and Blue, is distinguished by soft, nuanced shading created through an innovative technique that overlays two layers of dyed veneer. The second collection, Futae, available in White and Grey, plays with varying scales of wood grain to produce powerful visual effects reminiscent of bark and rock textures.

“Both collections are designed to explore the subtle interplay between the natural and the artificial”, explains the designer. “At first glance, they appear as if they could occur in nature, but on closer inspection their innovation is evident. From a distance, the colors blend seamlessly into the environment, while intricate details reveal themselves only up close”.

In addition to product innovation, Alpi has introduced key advancements in certification. The entire ALPIlignum Collection is now available with IMO-MED certification, issued under the European Union directive on the safety compliance of marine equipment. The collection is also FSC® 100% certified (FSC-C004666), thanks to full traceability and control of the supply chain. When it comes to fire performance, ALPIlignum has achieved a Bs1d0 classification, offering enhanced safety and compliance to meet today’s demanding design requirements.

The company took part in Fuorisalone with a selection of other collections – Agreste, String, Warp and Sottsass Pink – exhibited across multiple locations. These installations provided further opportunities to showcase the brand’s ongoing dialogue between art and industry, nature and creativity, and the esthetic and functional dimensions of wood.
