In the vibrant heart of Downtown Miami, an innovative interior design restaurant and lounge are capturing the attention of both residents and visitors. The interior design of JRK! & Mangrove is an exclusive project that blends contemporary style with the rich cultural heritage of Jamaica.
This unique space is born from the collaboration between STUDIO AD by Andrea De Camps and FictionWorks, co-founded by Andreas De Camps and Olivia King. JRK! & Mangrove offers a sensory experience that embraces the landscapes, vibrant colors, and traditional craftsmanship of the Caribbean island.
The concept behind JRK! & Mangrove is to create a multifunctional space that combines two distinct projects into one dynamic and varied atmosphere.
JRK!, the more casual side of the project, embodies a clean and minimalistic vibe. Here, natural light takes center stage, and the culinary offerings celebrate Jamaican traditions, presented in a modern and accessible context.
On the other side, Mangrove offers a more sophisticated setting, inspired by the speakeasy style, with a bar and lounge wrapped in an intimate, retro atmosphere. The space, lit by soft lighting, is decorated with vintage Caribbean elements, lush vegetation, and local artwork. A DJ booth with vinyl records completes the environment, creating the perfect backdrop for enjoying a cocktail in an ambient filled with nostalgic charm.
The space, designed across a single level of approximately 233 sq. m, perfectly integrates the styles of JRK! and Mangrove. The layout has been designed with careful attention to seating capacity and operational flexibility, ensuring a smooth transition between daytime service and evening entertainment, with areas serving both as dining spaces and DJ sets.
The design of JRK! & Mangrove is characterized by an eclectic charm that blends mid-century modern elements with a nostalgic allure. The brand's vibrant colors — yellow and green — have been integrated into the overall aesthetic, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere that enhances the dining experience. The contrast between aged, patinated materials and raw, exposed concrete walls generates a deep sense of nostalgia and authenticity, while the rough textures and vintage decorative elements impart a lived-in feel that resonates throughout the space.
