Luxury and Sustainability

Lefay Resort & SPA Dolomites
By Editorial Staff -

In Pinzolo, Trentino-Alto Adige, Alberto Apostoli oversaw the interior design of the new Lefay Resort & Spa Dolomiti, a 5-star luxury resort immersed in woodland. The complex, designed by Hugo Demetz, is perfectly integrated into the surrounding landscape, in an approach where traditional architecture was reinterpreted through the use of local materials such as stone and wood to generate a strong Italian character synonymous with prestige and luxury. With numerous awards to its name in the hospitality and wellness sector, Studio Apostoli took on the interior design, working closely with the client and the Lefay Resorts project team.

The goal was to convey and promote a prestigious environment with an international personality, one that would diverge from typical local style to embrace a more Italian taste, with strong references to the mountain setting. Contemporary luxury, Italian lifestyle and environmental and energy sustainability were the cornerstones of creative choice on the job. The nine-level structure offers 88 hotel suites and 22 private residences, all of which have access to resort services. Private accommodation has its own kitchen, an open space area with living and dining room, one, two or three bedrooms and glazed bathrooms, making them an exciting new development for Italian real estate. Particularly meticulous attention to detail is evident in the walls clad in wood with burnished metal inserts, alternating with stone slabs that feature ivory travertine marble.

The entrance lobby located on the ground floor houses a charming lounge area covered in granite stones, offering leather sofas, carpets tailor-made for this environment and velvet armchairs to enjoy the services offered by the lounge bar, located in the middle of the room and consisting of a counter fronted with backlit onyx. A hearth and grand staircase lead to the mezzanine floor and stained glass reading room, offering admirable views and completing the furnishings for this part of the building. Externally, the complex offers an open-air lounge area with teak and tonalite seating arranged around a burnished metal brazier.

The wellness area is the pride of the resort. Occupying some 5,000 sq. m on several floors, it features a swimming pool with sauna, treatment area, Lefay Spa Method energy and therapeutic paths, and a fitness area. The materials chosen for each space convey a feeling of comfort appropriate to each use profile. Natural oak parquet flooring and light eco-leather sofas exude home-style calm within the treatment area; with its three-dimensional woolen carpet, the relaxation area recreates the idea of turf, ushering the outdoor landscape in. The two private spa areas, “Bosco” and “Baita”, respectively offer photographic wallpaper and real birch trunks to recreate a woodland atmosphere, and facing in natural granite stone coverings and eco-fur carpets to evoke the warmth of a mountain chalet. Last but not least, in the center of the spa is “Il Centro”, a large semi-circle whirlpool tub faced in ivory mosaic.

The rooms offer a wide choice of floorplans, from 57 sq. m to
434 sq. m of the Royal Pool & SPA Suite, characterized by ensuite bathrooms integrated into the sleeping area through transparent glass dividers that maintain privacy by using wooden slats to infuse motion into the boundary.
