Protection and Relaxation for the Falkensteiner Hotel & Spa Jesolo

Located on the beach front in Jesolo, home to the longest pedestrian area in Europe, the Falkensteiner Hotel & Spa Jesolo was designed by Richard Meier, with Matteo Thun & Partners handling the interiors. Restraint, functionality, comfort and design are meticulously blended in this five-star facility that offers luxury services in the relaxed setting of this seaside resort that is only a short trip away from Venice.

The stylistic hallmark definitely lies in the minimal elegance of the architecture, embellished by exteriors that enjoy enviable views of the sea. These seafront spaces incorporate a terrace used for the relaxation zone of the spa that separates the two wings of the building and is enclosed on three
sides – with the fourth opening onto the beach. To make this terrace an even more alluring and pleasurable spot to spend time in, the hotel turned to KE to provide a screen that not only protects from the sun but also provides privacy from potential prying eyes in the rooms above. For this project, KE's Project Management Office worked with interior designer Bea Mitterhoffer to find a design that merged seamlessly into the architecture and perfectly reproduced the client's brief. The installation of three Kheope sails forged a protected, private space where one can enjoy the climate and sea breezes away from direct sunlight.

These shades are not only motorized, but also equipped with wind meters so they close automatically in bad weather. They can also be controlled independently to make it possible to alter the configuration to provide exactly what is needed for any specific time of day.

Made of steel and water-repellent fabric, Kheope sails fare superbly even when the elements are tough, especially the corrosive effects of salty wind, making them particularly apt for maritime environments. The light-weight materials also guarantee functionality, maneuverability and essential design.

KE's involvement in this project is yet more proof that the company really is an ideal partner for any scale of construction project in the hotel industry, able to optimally interpret its clients' ideas using solutions that help draw out the elegance and discretion typical of such architecture.
