In this past year, we’ve seen most top international firms adapt to anti-gathering measures and have decided to launch online their products by hosting on their channels the presentations of new collections.

Duravit, a leading international manufacturer of designer bathrooms born in 1817 in Germany, was part of this upgrade. During the worldwide “Duravit Design Days 2021” digital event, the firm presented this year’s collections. Besides an added collaboration with a new designer and a new, innovative flushing technology, Duravit has showcased two new complete series for bathrooms.

White Tulip is one of these ranges, which was created entirely by French designer and creator Philippe Starck. Ceramic bathtubs, washbasins, toilets and bidets, but also solid wood furniture, a complete collection of faucets and matching mirrors available in versions controlled by sensors or an app to dimmer light and prevent fogging. These are all part of Duravit’s White Tulip collection, which products, as the name suggests, take their cue from the organic silhouette of a tulip in bloom.

While describing his design, Starck acnowledges: “My collaboration with Duravit always naturally leaned towards minimal and timeless designs. Yet I realized that this perfection was perhaps missing a parameter, a feeling of positive nostalgia. […] I wanted to place the White Tulip collection more into human time; it could either be an ancient collection which would have been modern at the time, or a modern collection with memory of the past”.

The toilets are equipped with the new HygieneFlush technology that optimally cleans the entire inner surface of the toilet. To guarantee even greater hygiene, they come with the tried-and-tested HygieneGlaze ceramic glaze, which ensures that approx. 99% of bacteria are eradicated.

White Tulip also includes the first faucet range developed by Philippe Starck for Duravit. The consistent design element is the tulip-shaped handle that echoes the shape of the washbasins and bathtubs and is particularly easy and pleasant to operate thanks to the polished surface.
