In any architectural project, from a house to a museum, the right use of light opens up a whole new world of creative possibilities.
In such a paradigm, finding a versatile lighting solution, such as the ED Pole floor lamp, is absolutely essential. Produced by Qu, it has a slender, vertical extruded aluminum stem with an opal polycarbonate diffuser that disperses light uniformly, with a luminous flux up to 60W. For a travelling exhibition entitled Álvaro Siza. Viagem sem Programa, curated by Greta Ruffino and Raul Betti and currently on display in the old salt storehouses in the Adriatic town of Cervia, Italy, the choice of the lighting was fundamental in really drawing out the best in the exhibition and guiding visitors along the display route. Indeed, the use of ED Pole effectively made light the co-protagonist in the exhibition, elegantly and minimalistically highlighting the works arranged on lectern display stands, while at the same time beautifully foregrounding, in a sense, the interior of this delightful old structure – a true symbol of the town’s ancient salt vocation.
The finish for ED Pole can be customized or chosen from a wide range of options: from the standard black, white, bronze, copper, gold, burnished and weathering steel solutions to the possibility of covering the lamp in leather. Versatility for every furnishing accessory and the option of tailor-made solutions are two key aspects at the heart of everything done by Qu, an up-and-coming manufacturing firm in Italy. Such an approach, combined with constant support from the company, turns light into an additional creative dimension that is accessible to all designers.
