In the heart of the vineyard of Santa Ynez Valley, just three hours from Los Angeles, there is a crafted ranch-style home which represents an ode to calmness and harmony. The building, originally built in the 1980s, has been transformed by interior designer Corinne Mathern into an home with rustic charm and contemporary elegance.

 

A house set among vineyards

The house, featuring a horizontal layout, reflects its original ranch style, blending in with the idyllic vineyards of Los Olivos.

The architecture blends harmoniously with the environment, immersing itself in a breathtaking landscape among vineyards, olive trees, and horses. The interiors reflect the rustic and elegant character of the surroundings with spaces meticulously shaped around intricate stone patterns, matched with natural wood and cream plaster, creating harmony between traditional and modern elements.

Set on one single floor of 325 sq. m, this house offers spacious and welcoming spaces for everyday life with three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and an open space that includes a kitchen, dining room, living room, and lounge, representing an ideal sanctuary for a life of comfort and elegance.

The heart of the house beats to the rhythm of art and craftsmanship. The owners, enthusiastic art collectors, have contributed to create a unique and evocative environment. The spaces are filled with art pieces and iconic furniture that enrich the spaces, layering the house with history, stories and emotions.

A chromatic palette characterized by neutral tones and blue pieces is the perfect background to emphasize the artworks and provide the spaces with timeless elegance. Inspired by the surrounding nature is the use of natural wood and dark stones for the floors that harmonize beautifully with the cream plasters of the walls.
