Colossus Apartment in Kyiv. Rethinking the image of "a man's home"

SENSE OF SOPHISTICATION

The 19th story space provides a view of Kyiv’s historic downtown. The apartment is in Skyline, an exclusive residential complex, located in the rapidly growing “green” Pechersk district. The 127 m² [1,367 ft²] apartment is comprised of a master bedroom with adjoining bathroom, dressing room, guest bedroom with adjoining bathroom, and combined kitchen and living room.

Iconic Italian furniture is thoughtfully placed throughout the apartment. The living room and kitchen area are decorated with a Flexform corner sofa, luxurious B&B armchairs, a coffee table, and Poliform bar stools. The sleeping areas have Bonaldo and Interia beds. A statement Flos drop lamp adorns the guest bedroom and accompanies an exquisite graphite glass wardrobe with deep, dark sliding partitions.

AIR OF ANONYMITY

A sense of tranquility and privacy are enhanced by Zigura’s bronze sculpture in the living room and native Nazar Bilyk’s “Space Around” sculpture in the master bedroom. Bilyk’s piece sends the message that the inhabitant fits harmoniously within the interior— he is the center of the space. Reinforcing the solitude is the large scale of art objects and abundance of stone. The guest bathroom and master bath incorporate decorative slabs for framing walls and window sills. An air of anonymity is accomplished as all of the apartment is treated in a nude color palette with accents of natural materials including wood and leather.

In the shared living room and kitchen spaces, there is oak flooring and a custom island of stone and metal that smoothly blends into the dining table with tall bar stools. The living area is filled with unique textures and textiles.

The idea of this interior was to reveal the concept of calm and subtle masculinity inside these walls. We didn’t want to focus on a purely “all-male” manifestation. The intention was to create a cozy and trusting atmosphere. – Artem Zverev, YODEZEEN co-founder and lead architect
