This historic building in central Brescia began life in the 17th century as a convent. It became a museum in the 1950s, while, following its latest evolution overseen by Pelizzari Studio, it’s now been transformed into a home, christened Art Allure. Pelizzari directed an initial renovation in 2013 for a jeweler couple as well as the most recent project, which took over two years and was finally completed in late 2023.
The renovation set out to restore the history of the home but also combine it with an elegant modernity. Its industrial style brings to mind the typical warehouses with internal courtyards once found in Lombard cities.

The rooms have an animated feel. Careful lighting design enhances the precious contemporary artworks and oriental pieces collected by the owners during their travels, while also highlighting the distinctive features of the home, beginning with the irregularities of the walls.
The studio’s long background in renovation and conservative restoration projects meant it was able to maintain and restore the most significant structural elements, including the ancient brick exterior walls. Converting the surrounding green area from a vegetable garden to a garden has reestablished the context and soul of the home.
The apartment includes a large central space that comprises the living room with its iconic designer pieces, an industrial-style kitchen, the master bedroom suite, and guest bedrooms. Larch parquetry, enhanced using a lightening treatment, sets off the colors of the home while creating continuity between its different areas. The material textures of the surfaces dialogue with the shapes of the furnishings, in which modern designs alternate with exciting oriental artworks.
Each room shifts between art and design, balancing all the different elements in an ongoing exchange between rationality and sensuality, as if narrating the life stories of the people who live in these elegant spaces.
The home includes several furnishings designed by Pelizzari, including the bookcase and sofa in the living area, the wallpaper, the cabinet and stools in the bar area, and the brass and ribbed glass chest of drawers and bookcase over the bed in the master bedroom.
The project also focused on technology, with the original 4 m ceilings making it possible to easily recess services and provide efficiency and functionality to all of the home.
