Wood is one of the leading building materials. It can be used to create a supporting structure, for furniture and furnishings or even to clad surfaces, both indoors and outdoors. Wood is by definition natural. And so it is no surprise the wood supply chain is working exceptionally hard to ensure sustainable production and processing that respects both the environment and the people who live and work there.

Paradoxically, perhaps, wood is not an automatic synonym for sustainability, making it essential that manufacturers centralize this in their approach to ensure what they do is truly “green”.

The Zitturi (The manufacturer of unique interiors) carpentry is here to help its clients, whether private individuals or architects, on this front. It not only provides support with technical and esthetic choices for a project, but also with the fundamental - and essential - aspect of ensuring the sustainability of the material, its origins from certified forests, and
the storage and processing methods.

Merging design, environmental sustainability and attention to health, Zitturi works with clients to choose the best materials for achieving green certification for a project, based on the percentages determined in agreement with the client and architect.

This not only relates to solid wood, but also wood derivatives, such as chipboard, which is often made with percentages of uncertified recycled material exceeding 30%.

For wood treatments, especially for parquet, Zitturi’s commitment takes practical form through the use of green-certified natural oils, as these offer the necessary protection for the wood, the desired surface effect and, at the same time, a guarantee of the wholesomeness of the materials used.

Zitturi’s commitment to the environment and the sustainability of its materials and products can be traced back to its roots in the South Tyrol region of Italy, but it has required ongoing research that the company conducts working with local artisans who share the company’s vision. The end result is that the environments created for homes and workplaces are not only beautiful, but also healthy, in all senses, protecting the environment and ensuring the well-being of those people who often spend much of their time in such spaces.
