Jury Members

Three juries comprising internationally respected professionals from the world of architecture and beyond are in charge of selecting the winning projects of THE PLAN Award.
The International Jury selects the winners – 40 in total among Completed and Future – of each of the 20 categories.
The Overall Jury - Completed Projects and Overall Jury - Future Projects select the winner of the Overall Completed and Overall Future awards, respectively.

Philip Jodidio | The Plan

Philip Jodidio

Architecture Writer

Philip Jodidio was born in 1954 in New Jersey. He studied Economics and Art History at Harvard University. He was Editor in Chief of the leading French art monthly Connaissance des Arts (1980-2002) and is the author of more than 100 books on contemporary art and architecture for Taschen, Rizzoli International, Thames & Hudson, Prestel and other publishers. He is the editor of the books published by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture about their renovation work in historic cities in the Muslim world such as Kabul, Cairo and Lahore. His latest publications include a book about the National Museum of Qatar, designed by Jean Nouvel (Thames & Hudson), and monographs on Kengo Kuma and Norman Foster (Taschen).

John McAslan

Executive Chairman John McAslan + Partners

John McAslan + Partners’ work has been widely published and has received over 200 awards, including 29 RIBA National and International awards, 3 European Union prizes for cultural heritage, and an Urban Land Institute (USA) Global Award for Excellence. The practice was named World Architect of the Year in 2009. John is active in all of the practice’s portfolio across the studios in London, Edinburgh and Sydney. He is committed to interdisciplinary design collaboration and education and social issues – a hallmark of the practice.

Boris Podrecca | The Plan

Boris Podrecca

Founder and Director Boris Podrecca Architects (Podrecca ZT GmbH)

Boris Podrecca is a Viennese architect who was raised in Trieste. He speaks several languages and is considered as one of the main interpreters of Mitteleuropean architecture. He is Visiting Professor in Lausanne, Paris, Venice, Philadelphia, London and Harvard-Cambridge, Boston, Vienna. Since 1988, he is Full Professor and Director of the Institute of Architectural Design and Theory of Space at the University of Stuttgart. He works as an architect in eight European countries and in China. He lives and works in Vienna and Venice.

Benedetta Tagliabue | The Plan

Benedetta Tagliabue

Co-founder and CEO Miralles Tagliabue EMBT

Benedetta Tagliabue studied architecture at the Istituto di Architettura di Venezia (IUAV) and currently acts as director of the international architecture firm Miralles Tagliabue EMBT, founded in collaboration with Enric Miralles in Barcelona in 1994 and, since 2010, in Shanghai. Her studio works in the fields of architecture, design of public spaces, rehabilitation, interior and industrial design.
