The project is located in Lingang, Shanghai. It bears the hub function of the inland waterway connecting Taihu Lake and the inland waterway connecting Yangtze River - Dalu Line. The hub lock body includes the 27m double-line locks, 14m single-line locks, 90m control locks and long-term reserved locks. It arranges the sluice gate and the management area in parallel, and the management area and the ship lock body in front and back. The functions are connected through the 15m elevation bridge crossing the site. The entrance hall is the same height as the bridge floor to make a convenient and orderly work flow.

The site is located 5km away from the mainland. The building combines with the site to create a horizontal giant structure standing on the vast and distant beach. The horizontal and continuous structural units of the building stretch across the 500-meter-wide river, like a divine bird spreading its wings. The magnificent scale of the building conveys the temperament of the magnificent hydraulic architecture. It’s not only the landmark hub, but also the stage where you can climb high and watch the sky.

The overall architectural form is composed of modular structural components. The layers of the building are lifted out with the slanted wall, forming a perfect combination of "force" and "form". Combined with long-term planning, repetitive structural units are combined with long-term functional capacity to form a more overall and extended situation. The whole building adopts anti-corrosion marine concrete & anti-corrosion paint, and the core function is far away from the most corrosive seawater splash zone.

1. The building and water conservancy facilities are horizontally dislocated and juxtaged to form a 3D complex and efficient whole. Intensive land use ensures the normal operation of water conservancy facilities, returns more of the site to nature, and maximizes the ecological landscape. 2. The port and navigation management building, offshore maritime supervision station and sluice management building are arranged on three islands independently and efficiently. 3. The scheme structure is composed of unified and continuous structural units, which not only ensures the unity of structure and form, but also takes long-term growth into account. 4. The grassy slope covers the roof platform, combining the natural wild landscape with artificial facilities to enrich the sightseeing experience.

At the end of mainland, the inland river slowly flows into the outer river, and the unique function and environment make the building a prelude to the connection of Shanghai's exclusive land and water.
