The project was born from the idea of redistributing the poorly exploited internal space by positioning a large central totem with an attractive appearance and leaving customers free to walk around it. The main goal was to have a totally new space housed in a very old building (1600 AD construction of the original building) working with a few design elements to manifest them with all their strength.
In doing this there was also the need to highlight, through lights and decorations, the existing forms of the historic building and at the same time expand the limited spaces available through the use of white for walls and ceilings and dark for the floors.
The final appearance was obtained through a careful study of materials, finishes and lights shape
The work is set inside the central square of Civita Castellana, a medieval town located about 60 km from Rome.
In the design concept, we always kept in mind how the place appeared from the square and the public street and how it could be perceived by walkers
It was necessary to create something that discreetly inserted itself into the historicized environment but which retained, with elegance and refinement, its own contemporary, recognizable and autonomous character
copper finish, wall white and dark Horizontal elements are pulled in the old town and speaking about their contemporaneity
totaly recyclabile material were used for this project like plastic, iron, ceramic and mdf wood.
the cylindrical elements of the counter are actually copper self-painted plastic tubes for electrical conduits, this choice was made to safe the balance plan and to prevent the real copper oxidation.
The electrical system is totally based on low consumption Led technology, just as the new water system is equipped with water saving technology
Anyway the small dimensions of the project cannot drastically affect the environmental impact of the entire building
