The word "ON" in the project's title carries a dual significance, presenting itself not only as the antithesis to "OFF" but also as a concept of being "superimposed." This duality invites viewers to delve into the nuanced exploration of color's prominence throughout the entire project. It serves as a visual juxtaposition, urging one to see and immerse themselves in the dynamic interplay of colors across various materials and under diverse light conditions.
The carefully selected palette, comprising only three distinct colors (RAL 7011, RAL 7038, and NCS-S0580-Y80R), artfully converges on surfaces such as iron, plaster, canvas, and wood. This intentional selection and layering of colors contribute to a multisensory experience, engaging the senses in a symphony of hues and textures.
The design process was carried out together with the clients and grew out of suggestions from the surrounding contemporary world both physical and cultural. The objective was to dress the house in the couple’s desires. It became naturally and spontaneously populated by objects of their passions, such as the Bear Mask by Arsenio Rodriguez or their vinyl records that act as musical and also visual support with their colorful covers. Vynil covers are a perfect synthesis of an artistic and an everyday use object. In this microcosm, the ex-voto cross coming from a market in one of their favorite places, Mexico City was naturally placed in front of Cattelan’s “Finger” in scale 1:47 and near large canvases of RAL7038 painted by the decorator Tiziano Chiappa.
The project aim is to create a new environment within apartament's private space.
The new environments have been realized in between the many angles of the furniture, such as the metal sheet shelves or the table TAB, sculptural and even architectural, playing with plenty of natural light and sun rays entering thru the big glass windows and making subtle changes in color hues of the surfaces. So we would say that the environment and natural light is a co-designer of the space.
This work was an opportunity to question the nature of a purely interior design project because the appartement with a terrace on the roof, located in a newly built building, inhabited for the first time did neither require nor allow any changes in the floorplan. Therefore, the work consisted in thinking through the existing spaces and creating the vital space of the future inhabitants, a young couple loving modern design, music, fashion, contemporary art, pop culture, environment.
The project's uniqueness lies in its role as a living laboratory, where the interplay of color, light, and shape becomes an experimental journey. Existing within the confines of a predetermined floorplan, the design tactfully manipulates shapes and surfaces to amplify the impact of color. The landscape of furniture, including the distinctive metal sheet shelves and the sculptural table TAB, adds layers to this experiment, enhancing the visual dynamics.
Inside our living space, there's this captivating interplay of colors, light, and shapes that adds a unique character. It's not just a place to unwind; it's an environment with a vibrant and invigorating vibe. The color palette is like a visual conversation, adapting with the changing light throughout the day. It's a dynamic setting for what we love: music and art, infusing the space with creative energy and inspiration.

The two large canvases are painted in the same hue as the walls, they play with the perception and senses, appearing as a slightly different color, given their placement on a material that reacts differently to light.

The same color play occurs on the BARR metal bookshelf, also by Davide Vizzini; identical hues react differently on various materials: metal, lacquered wood and walls.

Curriculum
dvdvarch studio works on architecture, interior design and custom designed furniture and lighting for residential, restaurants, retail, hotels and offices.
dvdvarch is an international team of young architects committed to deliver a clear vision of the project.
The daily activity of dvdvarch Studio consists in keeping the heart of each project in focus without being pulled along the road that leads to the realization. Studio method moves forward by overlapping subsequent iterations of vision, execution, and revision, until the finished object is made.
The procedure may consist in smoothing the roughness of the idea or, on the contrary, in its enhancement and protection.
The firm's working tools are those of the architect who uses vision, drawing, material and digital models, the juxtaposition of materials, textures, surfaces, without ever forgetting the materiality of memories, references and suggestions of the soul.
