The idea was born from an active listening to the needs of the Municipal Administration of Rozzano that, receiving the needs of its citizens, gave rise to a need for redevelopment of an area that has been neglected. The aim is to create spaces that are more comfortable and beautiful for its residents. The concept was therefore developed starting from this vision of improvement of urban and living spaces, as an opportunity to renew the city, located in the suburbs of Milan.

A project of urban and social regeneration with the clear objective of renewing the surrounding environment and the urban landscape of Rozzano, suburbs of Milan. Hence the idea to give color to the buildings not only with a new design of the elevations but dedicating the blind facades of each building to an international level street artist (Mr. Wany) who could make that building an open-air work.

The project revolves around the need to enhance the energy efficiency of the constructions, so the use of thermal insulation has been an opportunity to improve both the energetic and aesthetic aspects of the buildings. The architectural elements of the facades have been recovered and the thermal intertia improved. The requalification of the balconies has provided in addition to thermal insulation, the insulation of window sills and the installation of darkening systems in particular for balconies facing south. The project involved the use of materials such as EPS additived with 70% graphite, with λ = 0.031 W/mK, for the thermal coating. Another important feature is the anti-seismic system achieved through the use of a carbon mesh to realize the anti-overtourning system of the facades.

The project redeveloped the degraded spaces of public housing thanks to the inclusion of art as an element of social redemption. Street art has become an element of redevelopment of public space, the neighborhood has in fact been transformed into an open-air museum. An internationally renowned street artist (Mr. Wany) was involved to create several works of hundreds of square meters that can be admired by both the inhabitants of the neighborhood and visitors. Art has allowed the neighborhood to change the appearance and the very perception that people have towards one of the most complicated realities of the area.

The project sought to deal with degradation in all its forms: social, functional and aesthetic. The redevelopment has in fact improved the performance of the buildings, while making the area an attraction to visit for residents and non-residents alike. The neighborhood received the possibility of carrying out this project by taking advantage of the Superbonus 110%, effectively relieving the residents of the economic burdens of the project.
