The project's concept was inspired by the surrounding topography of Meguro, a popular quiet residential area in Tokyo. The design incorporates geological layers as a motif, reflecting the undulating terrain and historical significance of the hilltop area. The facade features sloping, elongated patterns representing strata, while the approach and walls also incorporate similar designs to blend seamlessly with the environment.
Natural ventilation and lighting: Large openings promote cross-ventilation and natural light, reducing energy use.Passive design: Building orientation and windows utilize "borrowed scenery," connecting with nature and lowering energy consumption.Thermal mass: Exposed concrete regulates indoor temperatures, reducing heating and cooling needs.Reflective surfaces: Finished concrete enhances brightness, potentially decreasing artificial lighting requirements.Topography integration: Design adapts to existing terrain, preserving natural landscape.
